How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

54 eggs today! (Well, that's how many I came home to from my vacation) :lau
Left on Sunday, got back today. It was hands down the worst vacation ever!! :hit
I took my 83 year old mother out to Arizona (from Missouri) to see my oldest brother & his wife. She has had rheumatoid arthritis for about 45 years. We used a skycap & a wheelchair to get through the airport. I thought she did a great job on the flight out there. We had a nice dinner with my brother and then went to bed. The next morning she wouldn't get out of bed or eat anything (all day)and said she was in the worst pain she had ever been in!! She did eventually get a little better each day. But she fell out of bed the 2nd day. She said she was dreaming of pirates and they pushed her!:lau
It took 3 of us to get her up and back in bed because she didn't have the strength to get up on her own. Fortunately, my niece in STL is a physical therapist and we called her for advice on how to get her up without hurting her.
All in all we did not end up doing anything that we had planned. She never left the house and spent most of her time in bed sleeping. The most time that she spent awake in any one day was about 5 hours.
We were very concerned as to whether or not I would be able to get her on the plane and back home ( she lives in assisted living). But we got her some pedialyte ( not sure I spelled that correctly) and then some Ensure and then she finally started eating a little. Anyway, we flew home today and she made it. Hopefully it won't take her 3 or 4 days to recover from the flight this time!
She did tell my cousin that she doesn't think she will be able to travel by plane any more. Which is sad but true. She loves to travel so it's a bummer that she just isn't physically able to do it anymore.

I'm getting eggs to incubate later this week!!

Ah Karen I understand about your Mom it is so painful to watch them decline
that way .. I have marans eggs incubating now due April 5th

3 plus 1 girl in the nest at 11:30 this morning.
...
and 6 from little Lana the Golden Campine. Darn chicken decided to lay on plastic bags full of "raw" alpaca fiber. Given none were warm, they have all had at least 1 night to freeze and potentially up to 11. Guess I'll be making a big pile of scrambled eggs for the girls. She's the same girl that made a nest on top of a hay roll a few months ago. There were 11 eggs in it when I found the nest, again all had been out in freezing temps.

Naughty girl! We are in full spring temps here (well summer for some folks!) with up to mid 20's(c) - (even saw 28c when I got bakc in teh car yesterday!) in the sun . There is a freezing overnight due next week though (hoping all the blossums will be OK ).

Down from recent days (10-11) with 8 today (I was struggling in the sun maybe they were too!).
