11 yesterday, pretty good considering there are only 16 old enough to lay. One is 7 years old and isn't laying any more and another 7 year old is taking care of the now 9 week old chicks.

Nice to keep a few just that way only 4 so far girls in nests but suppose to be close to 90 here found our youngsters cleared all brush for the yard side of the fence then one got under the chicken wire out the field wire all around the property, now have tent stakes holding that wire down taught

I got 5 eggs out of 6 chickens today! That's my new record! It is 4:45 PM so I'm not expecting anymore. But we will see!

Got 15 out of 17 hens yesterday. One leghorn - who was acting poorly didn’t lay and I’m assuming Marti also didn’t lay. I’m going to have to start a thread in her to get advice.

Today got 12 eggs which included a soft leghorn egg. I had separated the leghorns into 2 groups of 2. This soft had to be from either the poorly acting hen or the great acting hen. Any guesses? Lol. Good news is the poorly acting hen is actually acting a bit better today. Fingers crossed it was just a bad day for her.

allot depends on your weather there I have girls in nest but not all will lay today as the heat will stop them we are just in the high 80's no humidity

Hot as hades and humidity thru the roof. I’m frankly surprised as heck that I’m getting as many eggs as I am. But that’s part of the thing - I’ve been getting such a high egg count that when a more normal count day happens it freaks me out a bit and I worry that something is wrong. I did do health checks on every hen today and most passe with flying colors - only 2 had issues I’m watching (one had a bumblefoot that had a tiny drop of pus in it and the other hen is the off acting leghorn). Well, 3 have issues if I count Marti probably not laying for like 10 days. I just posted a new thread on Marti.

Ma would say being a worry wart make yourself sick and hens too in the process let them chickens you be human and all will be well JMHO

11 again today. Maybe the girls are appreciating the cooler weather.

I came out of it with 10 surprise, surprise 1 in silky 3 are broody on like 7 eggs
