How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Lily is still with us- yea! Crop is empty. Can’t feel an obstruction. No bad smell from her beak (I practically had my nose in her crop - lol!). So maybe an obstruction further down. She did drink several times - I saw her. Just gave her mineral oil. She also just pooped - still green with some white mixed in this time. I’m hoping that means she’s getting a little movement thru her system. She had a little more fight in her also. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Keep those fingers crossed!!

Still battling! Lily didn’t move much at all today. Didn’t eat. Don’t know if she drank after this morning. We gave syringed vitamins and water tonight plus tylan. Everyone is getting tylan for 3 days as the leghorns still have snotty nares (but seemed improved) and while the sneezing is way less I still heard a few yesterday. It’s not doing any good in the bottle after all.

Lily spent about 5 seconds preening after her dosages. I’m taking that as a good sign. Then she sat down and I expect she’ll be in the same place in the morning.

10 eggs today. Buffy ended up not laying although she was in the nest box a few times late today so only 1 EE from Cinders. Ruby is still broody but spent a few hours tonight around. Merry might be broody or she could have been trying to late lay, which she’s done before. I’ll know tomorrow.

Have I mentioned I go away on Saturday for the week?! May have to leave Sunday instead.

6 - two Buttercup, 4 bantams. First day without EE or Welsummer since they started laying these last couple of weeks.
I now have 4 broodies, Icy's eggs should hatch on the 11th, Ebony had been setting for 4 days, today a game bantam joined her, but I took the egg she laid. Last is Scrunchie. She started today. I took the buttercup eggs and let her have three tiny game bantam eggs. Now I need to remember to mark them so I know what's fresh.

:hitPoor Lily expired this morning. This is really hard to take. I’m on this cycle of losing a hen every X weeks. Everything is great, egg production is high, they are happy and active and then boom! A hen goes down. It’s very upsetting and frustrating. We’re going to do a necropsy in a few minutes hoping that’ll shed some light on what’s happening. Sigh......

Saw one more of barred looking a bit down last night but headed to auction to drop cockerels so wont get there till later

I hope you are able to figure out what is going on. It is such a bummer to lose hens to illness or even just old age.
