How did you get 5 month old birds from them ? just curious

I bought them from a nice family who got them as chicks.

Meyer sells some started pullets. I guess not everyone wants to raise chicks. And I suppose even with a 100% sexing guarantee, you can still get a cockerel chick. You get your money back and figure out for yourself what to do with a future rooster. With started pullets, like sex links, you KNOW it is female.

Seems they are all long ways from up here even in good weather would not want to order like that

That is one reason I wouldn't want to order started pullets. Travelling is a lot harder on older birds.

I think they handle live animals a bit more carefully. But you are right, stuff is supposed to be packaged such that it can survive (IIRC, DW is on the phone) a 3' drop because the machinery at the PO sorting centers don't wear kid gloves.

I wouldn’t either Penny! This was perfect for me because I just don’t have enough secure space to do chicks. I’ve done them before by raising them with a friend down the road, but it’s a pain in the patoot. I also don’t have quarantine space, so I’m taking my chances every time I want to add young ones. I can block off and do the see but don’t touch but that’s all.
