How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I just saw a post on craigslist of someone's selling their hen because she keeps going broody. I was tempted...

I love having a broody girl to raise chicks for me.... but this year was wild! Everybody went broody!

Without a rooster broody is doing me no good. And oh my gosh! What if I hatched a clutch from every broody hen this year? If they averaged just 4 chicks each, I’d have 12 more that I hadn’t planned on and that’s not counting multiple breaking on 2 of the girls. Chicken math gets crazy real quick. I love my hens but I don’t need that many. Hmm... I could sell them. Maybe I do need a rooster. I can see me getting a rooster and them never going broody again.

I could use a hen that goes broody, I’ve only ever had 1 that would go broody reliably and we lost her a few weeks ago.

1 from 3 RI now 20 weeks old. My first egg 6 days ago . Then skipped a day, then one again, then 2 eggs I got excited thinking 2 were laying.. then skipped Monday.. then today only one again . But we’ve had record setting heat wave for our area 108-112. So not trying to expect too much??

Had roofers all day so had them here from 7 am to 7 pm. Big birds gave me 8
