How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

6 of 6 for the first time in quite a while. One was broken in the nest though. That’s 2 days in a row that’s happened. My younger pullets are exploring and going in the nests. I’m afraid that’s where the breaking is happening but I hate to scold them because I certainly want them comfortable in the nest when the time comes for them to lay. I may just have to deal with an occasional broken egg for now. I had such a hard time with my last broody, I’m getting trigger happy on closing off the nests and one poor girl had to lay on the floor of the house.

Mine were being the same way then all of a sudden bam 9 of them started to lay only 30 of mine left to go i was told to have patients i say it is not my best virtue

They are 14 weeks old. Their legs are bigger than my adult hens! Their voices are changing, they don’t cheep like chicks anymore but don’t quite cluck either. So much fun!

I got 36 out of 40. That’s a really good day. In the summer heat, I’ve been getting 25ish.
