I lost 2 ladies today. I'm assuming from the heat, because they weren't acting in any way out of sorts. They were both sitting in the same nest box together.

I lost my senior rooster today. It's sad, but no surprise. It's been coming for a while. He turned 9 this month, and was feeling his age. I've had him in a "retirement home" with a couple of his favorite ladies for the past three months to protect him from the other roosters.
He was the best rooster I've ever had. His sons have some mighty big spurs to fill.

My 4 year old granddaughter asked me if it was hot enough for the chickens to lay fried eggs.
