I had 8 big girls. 2 in the banty coop.

7 today! The other d’Uccle laid her first egg yesterday. 2 d’Uccle and 5 regular because one of the EEs laid twice.

My daughter (7) and I went to gather eggs and there were 4 but then she wanted to talk and hold them and by the time she was done another was on the nest (because of course they all share) so we will see later--my guess is 5 but this could be an all in day and get 7

So a week ago I set 18 eggs in the incubator. I checked them and all but 2 are developing. The 2 eggs that did not develop are from the same hen (all my eggs are a different color and size). Had this same issue last year from the same hen. Though this year I have a different rooster but the same result. After observing recent behaviors and last year I have come to this conclusion: my hen avoids being mated. Soon as she sees him coming her way, she makes a run for it.
