How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

+35 sounds practically tropical! At -35 we have the wood stove burning at full blast around the clock AND the oil furnace is kicking in every half hour just to keep the house at a chilly 67. Supposed to drop down to -40 tonight.

Take a short walk outside for me tmrw and enjoy the beautiful weather!
Where are you? I'm in GA and 10 degrees makes it feel like its Antarctica.

3 today! My SF seems to be one day on, one day off so far. I have an Ameracuana who seems to be 3 on, 1 off, an Orpington that is laying about 5 a week, and a Welsummer that is a laying machine! She just laid her 7th consecutive egg. Guessing she will take tomorrow off. Keeping track will get trickier when I get eggs close to the same color lol. Right now it’s peach/tan, pinkish bloom, blue and reddish brown, so easy to tell. I have an OE, another EE (hoping her blue isn’t as blue), a FBCM & a Blue Cuckoo Marans (fingers crossed the shading is a bit off), and a Sussex & Brahma.

10/18 + one frozen egg

Today's high was -37f (-39C). The barn cats stay in the chicken coop when temps are below -10f (-23C) and I turn on the heat lamp in the coop. Cats can have difficulty absorbing the nutrients from their food in such extreme cold. When it is this cold I crack a small egg on their food, mix it in well and add boiling water to just cover the food (which aids in digestion). Gotta keep all the animals happy and healthy in the worst that nature throws at us!

Do any of you do anything special for your animals in extreme weather (hot/cold/rainy...)?
