Oh no, not the broodies! Those things are pests when you want eggs. Fortunately, mine broke weeks ago due to the current heatwave. I suppose they got smart. However, I still have one Welsummer who is brooding who knows how many eggs somewhere in the neighbor's tree line.

1! First egg from my flock. 18 1/2 weeks old. My white Olive Egger beat everyone else in the race to the nest box (Townline Hatchery 2023 )

I haven't had eggs since gosh, maybe March or April. Went to give my girls some treats and spotted a Polish egg. Checked all the coops/boxes and there were no more, but wow it's a good feeling to be able to say I got 1 egg today

I got 5 yesterday but I Worked for them! See, what had happened was...It was raining on and off all day and my goats and chickens are in the same area in my back yard. The goats absolutely hate being out in the rain. They have 2 huge dog houses, but nobody likes one of them. I had one egg laid in the coop. The rest were laid in the most loved goat dog house. The goats were also in the dog house. One goat came out and got in the chicken coop when I tried to get the eggs. The other goat picked a fight with me about coming out. I was on my hands and knees in the mud, with it raining with a goat horn in one hand and a foot in the other playing tug of war. I finally won and got her out. But it was RAINING! While I had my wooden spoon, chest deep in the dog house with only my butt stuck out, trying to reach the eggs, the goat had her head on my butt pushing as hard as she could lmao. My knee slipped in the mud and I slid down on my belly in the mud and she is screaming at me this whole time because IT'S RAINING! I was completely covered in mud, but I got the eggs...how none of them were broken in the battle is beyond me. They have an oversized coop, plenty of room for everybody...but NO, the chickens and goats rather fight over a stupid dog house
