How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

7 yesterday, although one was broken. What was funny is I took the broken egg and threw it in the yard. One girl picked it up and ran with it and her friends were all chasing her around the yard. I had to stop and laugh.

Well, I got 7 out of seven this morning. I decided to keep the girls in their secure run while it's raining a lot. The leaves and woodchips get pretty wet in their day run, while the secure run stays bone dry.

They might not be happy being confined, but they still have about 20 square feet of space each, which should be plenty.

Just one today. I did see one of my 23 week old Easter egger checking out the nest box today so I’m hoping that she is getting close to laying.

I got THREE pullet eggs today! Guessing the new layer is my Blue Australorp, who has been squatting for about a week!

MI got 4 out of 5 today. At lockup tonight all 5 birds were filthy dirty and soaking wet! All this rain is causing bugs and worms to rise to the surface so I think hunting has been too good to pass up!

Snow White, my light Brahma just loves to roll around in the mud like it’s a dust bath. She started molting a couple weeks ago and I thought maybe she’ll look sparkling clean with all new white feathers once this is over. Guess what she’s been doing all week.

Day 2 of 7 out of 7 eggs, and they were all perfectly clean.

Both of my currently laying Wyandottes have laid today so short of a new layer stepping up or one of the girls that have been on winter break making a contribution I’m at 2 for the day

5 out of 5 today! They were dry this morning but they had been dust bathing so were very dusty.
