How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

LOVE the different shades of brown (Golden Comet and Australorp).
Lovely colors! Are the Australorps' the darker browns? I have 5 different brown-egg-layers but can't always tell who laid which egg unless she just got off the nest while I was around...

One girl's an Australorp and secretive; I've never "caught" her on the nest so don't know which browns belong to her vs. the Delaware or RIR. (I can recognize the Orpington's and Barred Rock's... ☺️most of the time.)

Five today, Martha's blue, both Eggers' greens and 2 browns. The Rainbow Girls continue to lay like champions while the others seem to be taking turns (is there a secret roster, I wonder? "Get busy, Sheila, you're up today!")

It's been 4 or 5 eggs daily (with a couple of lesser exceptions) from the 8 of them since mid-November when it tapered off from the daily 6-7 they'd laid since starting in September. Young pullets, so despite the very short daylight hours and dark rainy days of late, they're still generously supplying us! Lovin' my floofy girls so much.

[It'll be interesting to compare my 2023 & 2024 notes when we hit this time/next year, plus they'll have had their first molt to contend with.]

:frow First time posting in this thread!

I have two pullets laying so far (they started just before Thanksgiving), and both gave me an egg today. Août has laid daily for a whole week, and Juillet does nearly the same, sometimes giving me a double-yolker and then taking a break for a day or two after. Wonderful girls! :love
Welcome to the thread!

Darker brown is Golden Comet. Unfortunately, the Australorp lays a similar color to a lot of other breeds!

I found 6 pretty nice eggs in the box this morning. I let the girls out into their day run for the first time in a week or so, which about doubles the amount of space they have to play in.

Before I let them out I took the pitchfork and moved most of the wet woodchips into a pile on the uphill side so the birds can scratch them back down the slope. Should keep them occupied for a day or two.
