How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 5 yesterday.

I got three but cracked one because I put them in my pocket, at 9 F outside and windy I didn't care, my brain was frozen along with the rest of my body and my hands. Even the ducks looked at me like I was crazy for doing duck chores. I got out my hose that I leave in the house that is cloth and collapses until water is in it and like a big dummy gave the ducks their lettuce and chatted with them and by the time I got ready to use the hose it was frozen. I carried 5 gallon water buckets to them. Not fun. I am sure they appreciated the clean water though and I have a lot more muscles now, lol.

The girls each gave me an egg today, 7 out of 7. And one was humongous, weighing in at 105.58 grams, or 3.72 ounces. Wow! I think that's the largest egg yet! Cracked it open and it was a double yolker.

The ladies gave 8 today. I noticed one looks like she's molting. Worried about that since it's going to be colder than usual for the area this week, although I know our temperatures here are practically balmy for you northern folks.

19 yesterday. 13 today. I only found 4 up top of the straw pile, worried they have rolled off into the abyss but guess not much I can do but wait till I use the straw and find them if any.

4 eggs today.

All four laid today! Juillet laid another weird grey egg which was just extreme levels of bloom on a brown shell. She is always the one with the weird eggs; sometimes double yolkers, sometimes double bloomers.

I followed Mei around all day with a tub of vaseline. Her poor comb seemed to be showing faint signs of frostbite this morning, but I think we managed to protect it in time. Not excited about 2°F tomorrow morning…
