How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3 today, Mei, Juin and Août again. The temperature overnight got down to 0°F again, despite the forecast saying the low would be 6°. :hmm

Août was so cranky today, she started growling at me, lol. She wants to forage for clover, but it’s still covered in snow. I finally got to the store and stocked up on cabbage for their veggie feeder ball, so hopefully that will make her happy tomorrow.

I get more now it has warmed up a bit 5 or 6. Did loose my oldest EE she was 9.
Sorry to hear that, 9 is pretty good age. I have noticed Penelope slowing up, she’s going to be 8 soon. I have 5 others going to be 6, one of which is very fragile, she won’t see Spring likely. Always sad to see one’s pet pass.

2 today from the Crepe Myrtles.
I did a double take when I read this, for a second I thought, what kind of chicken is a Crepe Myrtle? I knew I had heard that name before! 🤣 Then I realized you meant that's the tree/shrub where your hens lay their eggs!

Anyway, I got six today. Will be culling out my non-layers in the next week or so ...

I have lost count of eggs today, but think around 10. Lots of nestbox drama these days, and straw stack drama also! Wish they wouldn’t lay up there, I am getting too old to be climbing straw and hay piles!
Wow, what's up with your drama queens? 🤔 "Cabin fever" from the cold weather curtailing their outdoor fun? Protest-laying over the chilly conditions? (What goes on in the minds of chickens...)

My 8 girls gave me 4 eggs yesterday (Both Eggers greens, Jill's pink-blushed brown and another brown). Today it was 6! Martha's blue, both Eggers (the Rainbow Girls are so prolific!), another pink from Jill, Rhonda's big RIR brown (saw both on the nest while I was cleaning) and the golden-tan (PBR Xena, I think). Way to go, ladies! Despite spending so much time under cover with all our heavy rain...

It is 12 degrees F here and by the time I get back home from work this morning the egg if there is any will more than likely be frozen. I am still going through my stockpile from last fall in the refrigerator and they are still good so I am lucky I have that. I used up around 30 of them yesterday making my hard boiled ones and my scrambled ones for the week. Thank heavens I have those.
