How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

So pretty!
Dark brown eggs tend to light a bit during the lay cycle. When they take a break they tend to darken back up again. I see that in mine too.

That’s what I’ve heard, but in Juillet’s case it seems she’s got it backwards! She took a break for 3 weeks, and her last egg was as dark as Août’s in the middle of the photo. When she started up again today, she laid a beige egg (the one on the left). So odd!

I am 99.9% sure the top egg came from Hannah. She was in the box when I checked for eggs. I went back an hour later and found that slightly darker and smaller egg.

Hannah was Joel's favorite, they roosted together, and she's been subdued since he died.

It happened. Egg #6 for the day popped out of one of my chickens and into the nest box.

I just read about Joel’s passing in your other post. What a terrible thing to happen, I’m so sorry for your loss. Joel seemed like a really wonderful rooster, so I’m not surprised Hannah misses him.
