How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3 today from 4 hens. Yesterday only 2. Wellie the Welsummer doesn't play everyday which is fine. 3 eggs a day is a lot of eggs since we don't eat eggs everyday.

From 4 hens in a breeding pen with a gorgeous stud mauve silky, zero. Hubby thinks it's the move. That was 3 days ago, give me a break. Look at this guy! What hen wouldn't want him? View attachment 3748265

My silkies hated my friend Roo I borrowed to breed to them. None of the eggs from my Marty and Henny were fertile, and only a few from Fluffy and Curly hatched. From a dozen I gave my niece only 4 hatched, one had leg issues and died and another died at about 10 days old. I now have the remaining two.

Today I have 11 eggs from the ladies. I have 2 broody old bats, so they aren’t laying, and 1 silkie broody raising chicks I gave her, and the other three silkies aren’t laying so that right there is a reduction of 6 layers.

But still it’s a good amt of eggs.

There were 5 eggs in the nest, all covered with egg goo. Someone must've laid a softie.

Today's eggs bring the total count up to over 1000 good eggs laid since January 1st, an average of 5.75 good eggs per day from my seven good hens. Cost of feed per egg was a little under 15.5 cents each, $1.85 per dozen.
