Update* last night when I closed the coop, there were two more GC eggs in the nest box. Jade was sitting on them and protested mightily when I rousted her into the coop and took the eggs. That makes five eggs from four hens today, even in this miserable heat we’re having in Georgia.

3 in the coop this morning, not in the nest box. One of the Banty eggs is usually a light brown all over but this morning it seems lighter, almost white in one end. And the GC egg was banded. I cracked that one with the chain as I locked the gate so I scrambled it, shell and all and tossed it out for the girls.

10 eggs yesterday but after fixing supper I found that one was a double-yolker so maybe that counts as 10.5

I think the double yolker should be counted as 2 eggs not 1. I have had quite a few of them from my RIRs. I only ate 1 the rest of them I gave to my mom

I got 5 eggs today, and one of them was actually laid in the new roll away nest box! The other 4 were in the coop.

I made some changes to the coop that I hope will discourage its use as an egg laying location.

ETA: I found another egg this afternoon, laid on the floor of the run. The hen dug out a nice nest to lay her egg in.

Things are picking up. With two broodies and two hens trying to be broodies, and another hen molting, eggs have been scarce...not quite as scarce as hen's teeth, but averaging one a day. My sitter found 6 eggs the 5 days we were away. Today I found 4, yesterday I found 4, and Monday I found 3.
