I made these little 'low cover' things with pallets that they seem to really love. It does NOT keep them from flying over the fence, though - I cannot wait til they are too chonky to do that, a couple already are lol

So that's 6/6 yesterday - this morning (I go in to clean the poop tables every morning at 8am) Toffee had already laid one and all the ladies were lining up again at the nest boxes.

They work so hard!! I'm so proud of them <3

It’s warming up here thankfully!

Today I found 12 eggs, then while cleaning my injured hens crate I found a nice blue egg she laid. She has either a dislocated hip or fractured the femur off the ball joint. A Vet visit would be over $800 so that’s not an option.

Thankfully her leg is aligned and she can scratch her face, pick up her leg and move it forward. If it wasn’t for the clunking noise her hip makes I would just say a bad tendon/ligament tear. Could still be that also making a loose joint.

Anywhoooo she is on crate rest with limited time out of it to eat and socialize with the gang. She is a calm wee thing and is doing well.

She lays lovely blue eggs, she is an Azur Blue.

Beautiful girl! I’m so sorry she’s injured, and I hope she recovers soon so she can return to the flock. Sweet of her to lay you an egg while she’s on crate rest!

6 yesterday! I am the worst at posting on the day, we had a late night last night socializing with friends (playing D&D haha!)

That third one, I think it's the other Jersey Giant laying her first egg - I used to be able to tell them apart when they were babies by comb color, but oh man, these two are now complete twins and are almost impossible to tell apart. Jane and Ginger - I think one of them had a day off and the other one laid her first. If I ever get 7 eggs in a day I'll know for sure!

You know, that lovely light blue is from my Cream Legbar Harriet - but, I've been getting one every day and they DON'T lay every day so now I'm thinking that BOTH of my Cream Legbars (other one is Penelope) are actually laying and they are just switching days lol I've never gotten 2 on a day yet.

This mystery has got to be the most fun. I have a camera in the coop but it does not always pick up the activity, so I don't have any evidence yet lolol
