How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Poor wee gal, glad she passed it all!

My silkie also laid a soft egg today; I have started her back on calcium every night now. I also gave her 1/4 of a low dose aspirin as she looked like she had some discomfort.

Poor wee gal she is 3.5 yrs old now.
My banty coop all four go after the oyster often.
If they have been in their tractor they go to the oyster when they get back in.

I'm glad she passed it as well!

I hope your Silkie doesn't have much trouble. I'll be giving my hen calcium for a bit too.

My hen is a bit younger than yours, she's about 3.

None really! But one of my hens who hasn't laid since March was acting off this evening. I was thinking a shell less egg, so I treated for that and sure enough she laid a good sized one with a long "tail" attached.
I figure I should tell you all her symptoms incase any of you may want to know. She had a bit of labored type breathing/gasping, she started having a weird posture, her comb seemed to be more floppy, and she was being slower. That's about it.
I treated with calcium citrate and an epsom salt bath.

Thank you for sharing this. My hen Août had similar troubles about a month ago, laying eggs like this on and off, most were soft and with a tail. She would stand very still and have a weird stance, like you mentioned. She eventually molted and seems fine now, but I worry about next egg laying season. I hope this is just a one off for your hen!

Some of mine will eat the oyster, some not so much. Marty has had issues for the last year. I had hoped she would reset her egg factory when she moulted last year but she didn’t 😞
