How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

1 again today, I see a lot of bright red combs which I think should bring more eggs.

There were 5 eggs in the nestbox today, but one pullet egg got cracked as the temperatures are getting rather cold.

My old gal Sophia went broody at 5, first time ever! Same deal, I tried to break her out of it, but after 6 weeks she was really getting poorly, I was at the feed store and they had a shipment of chicks in. I bought 4, went home and shoved them under her and prayed.

When they started chirping her eyes opened wide, she wiggled her body and wings and snuggled them in close. Gosh she looked so happy. Next day she was eating and drinking and had her babies to care for. She kept them for about 10 weeks, an actually the kids left her - she tried to keep them with her but nope they wanted to be free

Today I got 15 eggs! Wow! I think a few of the older hens are finished moulting and coming back online.

Sold 10 dozen today which will pay for some fees. Still have 8 dozen or more to sell.

That is beautiful picture of mother hen and her kids. I just want to hugs them all. I will take a picture of my 4 bantam today.

2 eggs yesterday.
Expecting just 1 egg from tomorrow for a long while. The Isa brown will lay egg 1 a day until she drops to the ground, she can not help it, human made her that way.

1 today , unexpectant snow fall saturday.. looking at clear days 40s for the rest of the month Most years its stocking up during the first 3wks of Jan. We can get some deep snow falls for the month of Feb.. Warmer /wetter lots of muddy roads getting in and out Id rather just stay home and avoid the mud..

14 eggs today, one broke and I was lucky to find it before someone crushed it further. The older ladies had a good taste of it.

In the end it was 13 lovely eggs.
