I got 11/19 yesterday including a mystery blue egg I believe to be from my EE, though the prairie blue bell was awful talkative and milling around the coop too. Oddly I recently got 2 rather long eggs from 2 different hens. I candled them but couldn't tell if they were double yolks or not. Here they are next to a normal egg.
Been setting aside certain eggs from specific birds in preparation for incubation. I was going to try waiting till the 8th but I'm thinking I will start up the bator a couple days sooner on the 5th or 6th. I got all the eggs I need from each bird so I've been switching out the old for the new. I'll be trying to squeeze in 36 eggs (vertical) in my 24 egg (horizontal) incubator. In theory by day 7 I will candle and remove any blanks and have enough room to sit them horizontal on the rollers. In theory. My single bantam EE laid her first egg after her winter break a few days ago and I was debating on incubating it. Well I fumbled the single egg of hers and it got a little cracked so unless she lays more in the next few days there will be no more debating. Too bad, I kinda wanted to see what she and the BJG roo would create. My current line up of eggs, missing spot from the bantam egg
The last 4 eggs on the right in the brown carton are likely to change.
