I haven’t yet trimmed the feathers, but when I get the chance I will. Thanks for the advice! I just switched them from dry grain to fermented feed, and I’m hoping that helps a bit.

Have not been reporting since Thursday because we have been out of town at GS's graduation. Neighbor boys collecting eggs and (hopefully!) caring for chickens. Boarded two dogs, took one with us, set up cats to feed and water themselves.

3 from 5 hens, only 4 of which actually lay nowadays. Number 5 has stopped laying since she moulted last September.

3 Banty eggs today. Jade has been in broody Banty jail since Friday. Goldie hasn’t had anything in the nest in a few days. I found two Goldie eggs in the feed bucket tonight. And when I went back to the house, Jade had an egg in her jail cell!

One of my naught girls flew over the 7’ stall wall and laid an egg in my wheelbarrow (I had it locked away so no one would dig up the manure in it), in the old muck, thankfully she laid it in some dry straw in the barrow! What a brat!

What do you do with all those eggs, Miss Pony?

I have some regular customers who buy them, this week has been slow so I have about 10 dozen on hand - it’s our May 2 4 long weekend and people are away, next week my customers will come calling I am sure!

Any extras I have I give to friends and family.
