How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

2 eggs. Dovey, (new to laying) finally laid an egg with a hard shell yesterday and then this torpedo today.

Photos show today's eggs standing in a basket. One from the perfect and consistent Big Red (usually around 54 grams), and the humongous chonker from poor Dovey at 62 grams.

Photo of 2 blue ones are Dovey's from yesterday and today.
She went from a week of soft shells to those 2.

Dovey's egg on the scale.

7 here again, rain has come back means worms came out ooops.
Rain finally arrived here in far northern Calif - 1.41" yesterday! Hoping it's an omen for a good wet winter. I was thrilled; the 8 hens were NOT. Grumpy girls glowering out from roosts in their covered run: "Not THIS again!" They're giving ~2 eggs/day mostly, and 2 have quit laying while they molt apparently (can't blame them, poor girls look so bedraggled, & funny with no tail feathers...) Not raining so far today so they're out happily scratching for bugs & worms (and undermining the concrete paver their waterer sits on 🙄.)
