The Nuzzler got her name from trying to hide in my daughter's hair and under the other pullets when she was small. She quickly bacame a bird that doesn't care to be handled but would still try to hide under the other birds. She hasn't nuzzed at all latelyThe Nuzzler is adorable, and I hope she has earned her name. I have a nuzzly hen myself, and she brings me so much joy![]()
They do behave differently at that age. My Juin, who is a devoted lap chicken and always tries to nuzzle her head under my arm like it’s mama hen’s wing, was also not interested in being held when she began laying. It took a few months before she decided she missed it, and returned to her favorite napping location. Now, even when she’s molting, I find that she wants to sit with me once or twice a day.The Nuzzler got her name from trying to hide in my daughter's hair and under the other pullets when she was small. She usually loves to come peck and wipe her beak on our clothes, usually from behind. Lol
However, she is the one that listens and comes to us at the other window of the coop when everyone else wants to jam up to the porch light side window and she gets weary of it. She will be all popping her head up and down like peek a boo at the windows on the side I am at like she likes humans but with no hardware cloth blocking it is a different story.
She will let me get a couple pets in before walking away when others immediately get to stepping when I pet them.
Maybe one day, we will get the honor of a free willed nuz on us, but not lately. Coming into lay is making all the birds a little different.
