How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Quote:
I mix layer pellets and cracked corn roughly 50/50 all the time, and throw a little corn on the ground for them to scratch. I'm getting 50% - 70% egg return with this feed . When I ran out of cracked corn a few weeks ago, they got straight layer pellets for about three days, and I couldn't tell a difference. The corn is a couple dollars cheaper a sack, and gives them a variation. I have seen days when they picked the corn out of the feeder and left the pellets 'til later. I think they're saying the corn is better.....

Has anyone else noticed that their eggs are getting larger with the cold weather? For some reason we've noticed that we're getting 2 to 3 eggs less each day but the ones we're getting are extra large to extra jumbos. It's been like this since Thanksgiving. Even my customers at work have been commenting on it. We've not changed out feed or anything during this period so I'm kind of perplexed.

Yesterday I found 21 eggs

So I guess my little ones are really being good hiders... as they are the ones who are just starting to lay. Course I saw one of my bigger ones in the hiding spot where I found 14 (silly chicken).

New record today--6! And I think our BO laid her first one today, which would mean 7 of the girls are now in business. 3BR laying, 3 RIR laying, 3BO (1 laying) and 2EE (slackers).
