Ummm...Your last name IS Oeuf??? I had a stickybeak (hahaha) at your profile, and I think Mr HARRIS, that you are mistaken. LOL I'll allow for a little confusion, but just this once. No, my last name is Oeuf, but it starts with an F, which is what it sounds like when you hear someone say "Oeuf" just right. JeffF looked pretty pedestrian, and since we're talking chickens, I thought I'd try a little multi-lingual play on words. However, you're the first person to get it in 7 months.![]()

x2 Maybe it just makes me feel better when it's so cold out there, but I've been making a warm oatmeal/sunflowerseed/scratch mash for the girls each night before the sun goes down. They gobble it up and go to bed with a nice full crop. Still getting lots of eggs and the girls seem active and healthy. Someone on this web site mentioned a hay tea, where he pours hot water over hay and gives it to his hens on brutally cold winter mornings, sounds like a nice plan this winter..........Four eggs out of eight able to lay today! I think warm oatmeal helps, also I heard on another thread that cayane pepper helps too.
I just started counting down the days until the winter solstice last week! Only 40 days to go now3 a day with 46 layers for the last 10 days or so,they turned the switch off for sure
