5!! This morning the count was 4, but one of my girls laid one right next to my foot this afternoon.

5. The bad news is I have one egg bound. Labored breathing, will eat mealworms but refuses to lay down. She is in a dog crate in the spare bedroom. Calcium given a few hours ago. Not much improvement in the last 6 hours.

I’m up in Olympia WA which is pretty north, but I also have brand new layers who seem bursting with eggs!

Last winter my 8 older girls never stopped to the point that I was worried for them. As the year went on their shells were getting thinner and thinner despite all the oyster shells they were consuming. I was glad they stopped this winter because they really needed a break. The 5 young ones are taking over now so at least I've got eggs again.

Do you have Calcium gluconate? This was rec to Amiga [vet] for one of her females that was egg bound 1 ml liquid. TSC carries it. @DuckyDonna has used the cla glu with her ducks when having trouble laying and it has worked every time.

I gave her some last night and it went through her. The proof was on the dog crate tray. Really don’t know what happened to her. She passed about a half hour ago. Since she was two months old, she mostly squeaked instead of quacked. Maybe a genetic defect that finally overcame her. @WannaBeHillBilly , warm bath was the first thing I did while getting the CG ready to give her.

I’m so sorry. There is always that possibility. I am pretty sure my Runner had something like that also. That was a bad hatch I got from the hatchery the reason I know was because there was a member on here who ordered from same hatchery and he got a notification that his order would be delayed because they were having problems with their hatches. So it happens. No way of knowing for sure with out a necropsy. If your up for it, I wasn’t.
