How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I don’t mind incubating and even brooding for a week or so. I just don’t have a place for them after that.
I wouldn't mind incubating and giving away/selling the little ones. But raising them forms some kind of bond between them and me and giving away such a duck is too difficult for me (now). And i would feel like the executioner would i give a away a young drake to somebody whom i know would slaughter and eat him. That's kind of my snowflake-spot.

Puddles and Matilda are still regular daily layers, my white ‘Scovy is taking a post-broody-break, her sister just started sitting, and Daphne is trying her best to contribute.

However, I need to do better “broody management”. My pied Muscovy needed a broody intervention yesterday after she became a suspect in an assault on Daphne (who now needs eye medication twice daily). I had to destroy her nest in front of her yesterday, and she just sat there glaring at me and vibrating with rage. I haven’t slacked on cleaning or other care, but I’ve certainly not been clearing out all of
the eggs every day.

In other news, broodies are going to have to brood today as they are on lockdown due to Mr. Bear’s spring visit (videos posted on the “predators and pests” forum). It’s too bad too as I just fancied up the duckio yesterday in preparation for my marathon Monday at work. Now, they’ll be stuck in the barn all day as DH is out of town and I trust the duckio’s security, but not enough to leave the ducks in there for 12+ hours with no one at home to keep an eye out for a clearly hungry Mr. Bear.
