Only 7 eggs today. The hen that was under the coop last night is dead. Was going to do an autopsy but I need to get to bed. Very early morning tomorrow. Unfortunately she was a new hen, hatched out in 2019.

Thanks! I used Copic markers, but watercolors over a truly indelible fine-tip liner pen would work as well (or better) and a heckuva lot less expensive. The catch is that you'd probably have to go back over the black lines after doing the wc paint.

Update to the uncovered 4 eggs report. Wife tells me eggs were covered when she let them out. Broody K/C comes out to get a drink, big goofball Pekin goes in and uncovers the eggs, K/C gets mad, chases Pekin out of the coop’ covers eggs. Apparently the Pekin won because when I got home and went to get the eggs, they were uncovered .

Great day at the Quack House! Daisy, the older Appleyard, has been back laying consistently laying for a few weeks. This morning I checked and one of the younger ducks had laid in the same nest. Now, we don't have to wait four days to have enough eggs for breakfast! (HA!)
