If you feed your ducks with more protein during the Winter season they very likely continue laying eggs. My duckies get some cat-food every morning and evening.I’m in Vermont, but it’s similarly cold and dark and shall be for the foreseeable future. My three free-loaders usually start up the fist week of April!
Edited to add: I have a coworker with Pekins who brought in eggs last week. She insists that she doesn’t use artificial light too.I think they are only 1 and a half years old or so though.
1 duck egg
It is my girl penguin, she was laying on top of a VERY warm egg the other day. Also I let them out very early one morning and she ran into the bushes and laid an egg. Not sure why the other one isn't laying yet.Have you figured out who is laying yet?

And in fact the hens do need some kind of a break from the egg laying business. I tried to cut back on the treats in the morning but the ducks gave me a lot of stink-eyes!I would give that a try, but I don’t really mind them being free-loaders. Plus, winter gives me a break from Broody Muscovy Woes and Daphne’s Egg-Laying Crises!
