How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I realize i posted here instead of the chicken thread of the same name!! So my bantam girl gave me another egg today.. the others are watching her, so i hope they start up again too!

In my area, there are a lot of hawks and vultures... let's say i get muscovy ducks.. do they just need a cover, or an actual enclosed run? They are so tempting to me 🥰🦆 of course I was looking at mini sheep too 🤣

I have six runners and four pekins that could be laying, but right now everybody has taken the winter off except for two pekins. Getting two eggs from them each day.

My Muscovy and other poultry have a little over half acre fenced in. They have a coop they go into every evening so they don't get picked off by predators. They do have many places to get under around their area. One of my Muscovy females was attacked by a hawk and lost vision in one of her eyes. So even if you set up safe places they can still have issues with predators. But I have never lost a duck since 2004 from a predator. I could never have poultry without fencing they'd be gone in no time.

That's what i was afraid of. When i got my new chicken coop and run delivered, i got a special visit from a hawk that sat on my fence, and three vultures !! Didn't even have my chickens in the coop yet, they just knew what it was for! Well no ducks for me then, id need much more space to give them an adequate duck area. Wouldn't trust them out in the yard otherwise.

My Speckled Sussex decided to move her laying spot to a new place inside the dog house I have out there for them to get in out of rain or snow. She's trying to get back at me for making it cold. 2 eggs her sister used it too.
