I sold 2 dozen... now trying to figure out how to fill my other orders of 6 dozen by Friday when my girls have slowed down to only 10-13 eggs a day.

Two dozen for $3 each. I could have sold four dozen if I'd brought all I had on hand in. I've promised everyone that My Gals would make it an even three tomorrow morning when I get to work. Then I called my wife to go out and lay down the law so they make the nut. Actually, even with the shorter days and cold nights (high teens/low twenties)my nineteen Gold Comets have been stepping up to the plate, so to speak, and producing sixteen to nineteen eggs each day. My co-workers have been buying all we can produce. We're planning on adding some more roosting bars in the coop and bringing in another seventeen pullets in the spring when we can get them. That'll make an even thirty-six. These GC's are great, great layers! You can't tell from the pic below but these are all extra large to jumbo eggs from less than year old pullets. Our 'Youngsters' are six months old and they've been laying now for about a month or so and they're starting to make consistantly sized large brown eggs.

very nice batch of eggs there jim,,the gold comets really lay well,I hope to add to my flock in early spring,no problem selling, the problem as of right now is collecting on a regular schedule, not that it will break the bank, but its hard to keep up with at times,,I need to keep records maybe,I am buying feed from egg sales.so far its working out great,$1.50 per dozen is all I can get here, but thats ok,,,

My co-workers seem to have no problem with $3/dozen. I started out by giving each of them a free dozen and told them to bring me the carton back with $3 and I'd be glad to refill it for them. If they didn't bring the carton back the price would be $3.50. No one complains and I swear they're at my door when I arrive at 7:45 or they come by within a few minutes. I've pretty much got it down to a schedule with them so I know who'll buy when and how many. One guy takes two dozen at a time. With the holidays and the extra baking the demand has been especially high. But hey, it pays for the feed. It'll never pay for the Taj Mahal of Chicken Coops but that's another story. I may get my Lowes card paid up before I retire...

And we have plans to add another 17 pullets from Shooks in the spring also. That'll make it an even 36. I'm sure I'll have no problems selling them. Teresa said she would even take them down to the Statesville Farmer's market on Thursdays when they're open and sell them. She's now talking about getting some goats so she can make cheese and some bees for the honey. If that comes about I'll have to go across the street and get a Home Depot card then...
