How many Eggs did you Sell today?

three dozen today

2 dozen today for $3.00/dz. Gone moments after getting in my office. We added another 11 started pullets back in mid-May and now they're pretty much laying mostly large eggs so we're getting better than 2 dozen a day from our 30 GC's. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sell that many eggs each day to my co-workers but I was wrong. On Monday's I come in with as many as 5 dozen eggs and they're gone in minutes! Tuesday thru Friday I bring in 2 dozen each day and the same thing! But we're going to stop here and keep our flock at 30 for the next few months because I don't want to have to build another coop and expand the run for more chickens at this time. But these folks love our eggs. One guy says his girls won't eat any eggs that didn't come from Miss Teresa's Chicken Ranch (That's the label I add to the cartons).

12 dozen with another order of 10 dozen. I looked that the local newspaper and a local grocery store is selling 30 count eggs for $1.49. I'm sure people will be all over that sale.

2 dozen for $3.00/dz. I took in two cartons of very large, jumbo-sized eggs that I'd been collecting over the past couple of weeks or so and I could barely close the lid on the cartons. Before I handed one to my co-worker friend I opened the carton to show him how large the eggs were and said, 'Well, you know these should actually go for $4 a dozen.' He said that was fair and pulled out $4 to give me but I told him I was only kidding. The other guy standing behind him was watching and only had a $20 bill so I told him the price for the jumbo mega eggs was now $20 a dozen. Unlike the first guy, he balked at the price. Can't blame a guy for trying can you? These city folks are crazy over our eggs! But I don't know how I'm going to explain this to the Gals though because when I go out collecting eggs I tell them I'm taking them inside to a nice safe place and they're all marked with their names so we'll know whose is whose when they want them back...

My eggs peel very nicely and they're usually no more than two days old sitting in my chicken basket. Have you tried poking a little hole on the bottom of the egg with a little thumb tack? I do that when I have my boiled eggs in the morning and I always have a perfect peel with pretty colored shells for my chickies to eat (crushed up) later that day!
