I have wanted peafowl for a while now and I’m just curious how many eggs they lay and how often? Also I see many people say they are good with chickens but has anyone had them be mean with the chickens before?

I have never had peafowl.. I know the hens, though, fully mature at the age of 2, that’s generally when they start laying, but I’ve heard of some hens laying at 1 year old. I don’t know how many eggs or how often they lay in a year, though.

Thank you, I want peafowl so bad I have wanted a parrot since I was a kid but I can't because my one dog with kill it and I wouldn't want one if it had to be caged all the time. So since she doesn't seem to bother the chickens etc. I think it would be a good idea to get a trio of peafowl and breed them. And my turkey wanted nothing to do with other turkeys but I think she gets kinda lonely just being with the chickens so maybe peafowl will be a liking to her.

My peahen laid 3 eggs last summer when she was just a year old. Then she went broody on them. The eggs weren't fertile since the male was only a year old also and not breeding.
This summer I expect her to lay more eggs that may possibly be fertile. But I have read that a peahen will lay 6 to 20 eggs a year so I don't keep the peafowl for egg production. Only for the pleasure of having them.
My peafowl have lived with the chickens since I gt them 19 months ago and I have had no problems with them being together.

That's honestly still likely more eggs than my 3 duck hens lay and they would likely eat less if not the same amount as my ducks and they are more valuable to sell and would easily earn there keep while making me happy I finally got some peafowl. I looked up how many eggs they lay a year but I wanted to double check it's not what I read about turkeys only laying a few eggs a year. Thank you

I don't have any recent pictures of my peahen. She takes off running when she sees me with the camera. But my peacock is a real ham when I take pictures. He will turn this way and that so I can get his 'good' side. :D
