How many eggs per day?

Hello -

Two questions that are puzzling me. Perhaps you can help -

Can a hen produce more than one egg per day?

Once she's inseminated, for how long will she continue to lay fertilised eggs?

i have had a chicken lay 2 eggs a day. not sure the whole "story" behind that one. but i know for sure!

as far as your second question, i believe all egss will be fertile if shes got a rooster mating with her. hope this helps.

Just to clarify: What I meant was that without subsequent matings, for how long would the eggs be fertile, (or is it a case of one mating results in one fertilised egg?)

I've heard she can 'hold' the sperm for 2-3 weeks. Laying fertilised eggs the whole time.
