We are very new to chickens. We set up our coop and pen, and then set out to get laying hens! Someone who was established, was getting some baby chicks and giving some of their older ladies away. I never knew to ask how old they were. We were thankful to get them free. They gave us 8 chickens/hens total. We get an average of 2 eggs a day. They are a variety of colors. I was just wondering if this sounds right and average. I just want to make sure they are comfortable and happy. Thanks for any response! I don't have a picture with all 8 in there! lol

Given the circumstances my guess is these are older hens past their prime, so you're not going to get a lot of eggs. However if you got them very recently (last 2 weeks or so) they may still be dealing with stress from moving, which can affect production.

How long ago did you get them? If they are stressed from the move to new surroundings it may be several days before they start laying normally again. Can you ask them how old they are? Could you post pictures of the chickens?
Hi there! I just posted a few pictures. :)

I really can't see well from the pictures, possibly someone else can. When I re read my post it sounded like I was asking you to ask the chickens their age, HAHA of course I meant the people you got them from :)
