I am picking up some eggs to hatch out, and I’ve got 6. But now I just need to determine if I want to keep all 6Four, currentlyWe'll see if I get attached to any this year and want to keep them, lol!
One adult breeding pair, and one juvenile pair, one of which is a blonde.
I may try to add a blonde male this year, and there's a breeder I'm friends with in TX who sometimes sells eggs that have a chance of hatching whites, so I may take a chance on a couple of those this year and see what happens.
As to why, I have the adult pair because you shouldn't keep a single emu, and if I was having two anyway, I may as well have a breeding pair, right? Then I added the juvenile pair because I wanted a blonde. And I might get another blonde this year to have one of each gender.
And I like the whites too, so I might add one or two whites, if I get the chance.
what did he say about ostrich? I know of a guy in NC who hand raised them and they are his pets and docile like emu and make good pets for him. But i have HEARD that ppl say theyre super aggressive and say "dont raise them"....the guy i got mine from had probly close to if not over a dozen birds not all emus tho also ostrich and rhea
he raised them to eat and sell he tod me not to get to near the cage or they would bite my head. he doesnt handle them that much when i called him about my emus broken leg he said he had an lame ostich from a storm one but he wouldnt even go near enough to touch the bird just gave it food and water and a few weeks later it was fine. they are aggressive and dangerous but this guy is ex military and a retired with the loss of several fingers rattle snake breeder. so so even the largest of birds are comprably safe..what did he say about ostrich?
