how many females?

A fox recently wiped out my chickens so im thinking of changing to quail. I have a small daughter and would love to raise some from chicks, i was thinking of getting 20 how many of these aprox would be hens? Would i better waiting till they could be sexed?

i have heard to only have one mail and 4 femails to every coop also keep an eye out if the femails stop laying eggs because the mail might be eating the eggs and the femails will go on strike.

it also matters what type of quail the cortex is the most simple to me but if your daughter is going to be taking care of them she has to be very careful because they are very delicate when young.

I thort it would be more like 6-1 they will be living in an 8ft-6ft shed with a 12ft-4ft out door flight. would this be ok?
