How many fingers have you lost?

Darn you 7L you made me hungry! *off to go preheat the oven for some cornbread*

I still have all my fingers, but not for lack of them trying to peck them off! My bantam roo did peck off a hangnail that had been bothering me on my big toe in July, I thanked him for that one.

Mine dont like being moved from where I need to get to. I have 2 that when you tell them to move they sit down move them with your foot and they jump over it and go back to sitting. Its almost like they want to eat your finger. I dont hand feed mine they are still too skidish.

I don't know if your sorta kidding or really had a hard time. I feed mine the dried meal worms out of my hand all the time. And yes they do act as though they want to eat all of um before the other find out, I've not felt like I was in any danger. But this morning one of my reds found a small snake and she did attack it for sure. And in short order it was gone.

I don't feed mine out of my hand since they got so big and strong. My girls are calm and gentle unless there is food involved. I guess I am a wuss. I'm more of a "throw it over the fence" type.

Live on the edge a little! Just kidding, I do that with scratch because it's just too dangerous. We feed most treats and such by hand if we can, but sometimes they act too much like piranhas.

At six weeks my five BO's ate oatmeal out of my hand and it was fun and kinda cute. At 16 weeks they had developed very strong necks, lightning fast speed and very, very sharp beaks. At 20 weeks they hide under bushes and leap out at me when I walk by. The birds Hitchcock came up with were NOT this cunning. Or big. I think they are growing teeth.

I have really started to feed more scraps, now after dinner I walk out w one plate for all 44 birds and I suddenly have every free ranging bird at my heels all the way to the coop. Amazing how many friends I have after dinner! They are fairly well behaved, so no loss in digits, but I don't tempt them much!

Reminds of that old saw about the old feller going to the doc. Sat up on the table and moved his arm back and forth a bit and complained, "Doc, it always hurts when I do this!" The doc replies, "Well, stop doing that!"
