How many ganders to get?

Currently I have at least 4 ganders, 1 goose, and 1 that I'm unsure of, so I don't have the problem with deciding how many to have. However a friend of mine has a bonded pair of Pilgrim geese and 2 of their daughters hatched last year. All 3 geese are laying and only 1 goose's eggs are fertile. So I think it's more of a preference...personally, I'll always have at least 1 gander per goose.

This makes sense to me. I still wonder if I need one anyways. I know this is their first year laying. I don't even know if they will go broody cause I have read that Embden do. So only for that purpose am I even considering males to begin with.

I would get 2 ganders and run them as 2 pairs. If you loose a goose then there's still a pair to breed from. If you lose a gander then you can run them together as a trio. The only thing to beware of is each that each gander may need its own pen during the breeding season to ensure serious fighting does not occur.

I kinda feel like I need 2 but then I don't want the fighting either. So now I need to find some girls for my drakes so they won't feel so lonely since losing their girls (goose). It is hard to find adult ducks in their breeds locally.
