How many hours spent with your chickens?

If this isn’t inspiration to invest money wisely and retire early, not sure what is! I work full-time so I see them quickly in the morning when I open their coop door to let them out and tell them I love them (ha!) and then when I get home I spend maybe an hour outside with them if weather permits, feeding them treats and closing their coop door when they go to bed. On the weekends I spend as much time as I can/ weather permits. My roommates visit them during the day too :)

how many hours does everyone spend with their chickens each day? I’m out once im done with homework and spend at least a good 3 hrs outside every day even if it’s for some fresh air.
Probably too many to be honest, our girls might be a little spoiled. We sit out on the porch or in the yard with them every day weather permitting for the better part of the entire day. But we also got them as hatchlings and they're only coming up on 8 weeks old and we don't have a fully enclosed run or anything, so they're supervised almost nonstop when they're let out of the coop. We have hawks and feral/barn cats around. They put in a couple hours foraging and then crowd the wifes head for a nap before putting in another couple hours foraging, followed by another head crowding for the wife before they're sent into the coop for the night. I don't let them crowd me like that. I'll get maybe 3 at a time give them a little love and then send them on their way. I try not to let them hang out long enough to have to poop 🤣

24 hrs.. they live in my family room 🥰

I'm so glad those days are over, brooding hatchling chickens (2 day old Cali Whites) in my living room is one of those things I'll never do again, it was worse than a dog or a child or well, anything really. Stop trying to eat that string from the carpet, drop that, it's a piece of paper not food. Dammit, get back here, THAT'S NOT FOOD! Could you please just poop on the puppy pads. Oh cmon! I just picked up poop there! Ouch, that's my leg not food, get off the TV stand ya little shit. Aaagh, watch where you're trying to fly, you almost took out my eye 🤣

Not that there wasn't good times as well. The all chick pit crew was interesting.

I have little chicks in a brooder in my garage. I spend several hours a day with them. Usually an hour in the morning hand feeding them, changing their water, filling their feeder and cleaning/replacing their bedding. I hand feed them again around midday & clean up. Again in the evening I hand feed them and clean up. Usually they all fall asleep on my hands and wrists and as others have said, I'm legally obligated to stay. I love them so much!

Omg now i have to buy my girls a jeep!! Mine are actually full grown bantam house chickens! They have chicken diapers, although two are mostly potty trained. They enjoy watching tv from the couch or sleeping in the dog bed for the most part. There's always one that wants to be cradled like a baby though 👶

If you handle them tons as new chicks and do potty training (same as you do for parrots), they will not poop on you! They hold it until they are off of you. 💩
True! Mine will poop before they come on my lap, and leave if they need to poop! I thought maybe it was like pooping on their mother if they pooped on me, since I raised them!
