How many hours spent with your chickens?

If it isn't raining, I spend around an hour a day: 15 minutes or so cleaning the coop, feeding them, etc, and another 45 sitting out there with them. Like @DLHOCNT , one will come and sit on my lap to snooze or sunbathe, and I am not allowed to leave until she decides she's done with me. Now that it's warmer, I hope I can spend more!

Old picture, but nothing's changed, except the Orp tries to keep them EE off now!

They are so beautiful 😍

Hours per day? Homework? Kids, enjoy your free time while you still have so much of it, and watch as much chicken tv as you'd like! I wish I had that much time in the day. But I have a full time job and two young kids, so the chickens are lower on the priority list. I do go see them twice a day for a few minutes during the week, and sit with them for longer on weekends, but that's about as much as I can do. They still love me and sit in my lap, so we're cool.

I feel for you. I was lucky enough to be able to retire early and can honestly say I’m enjoying every minute of it. One of my friends at work gave me the best advice during my very first week on the job - put more money than you think you can into your retirement account and keep adding more every time you get a raise. She said if I started doing it early, I’d never miss it and boy, was she right! I ate a lot of ramen noodles and lived in a craptastic apartment for quite a few years, but because of her great advice, I was able to retire when I turned fifty!! I hope you’ll be able to do the same.

That sounds great! Very wise advice. I doubt I'd be able to retire at 50, but once the kids have flown the nest, I'll have lots of time to sob into my chickens' fluffy butts

I'm retired and working more than ever! Definitely don't have hours per day to spend on the chickens, though they do seem to enjoy watching me labor around the yard. Just as we enjoy "chicken TV," chickens like "human TV." :)
