I have 3 nest boxes for my flock of 8 chickens.

It will be interesting they lay in all of them. I'm due to get my first egg any day now. My girls are in the nest boxes practicing and singing the loud egg song!

8 hens, 2 nest boxes. Each day they pick one nest box and they all take a turn and lay in the same box. Might be a different box the next day but they'll still all use the same one!

I have 6 boxes right now. I haven't moved my chicks out to the coop yet but it's all ready. Haha I honestly don't even know what gender they are but I have 2 one month old "ladies" and 13 silkies and still adding to the group. Sheesh, I might need more boxes soon LoL

We have two boxes. When there was seven hens sometimes you'd see an egg or two in the other box but generally was all in the same one. And those were the leghorns that moved laying area, thinking it was to thwart me from getting the eggs. Since 4 hens and less they use the same box.

It appears that I have 4 too many. 10 layers use 3 boxes. Had I known about this site before I built them I could have saved time and money. So what does a chicken addict do when a problem of too many nest boxes are not being utilized. Go get 6 more chickens, not laying as of yet but a few are close. So maybe those dormant boxes will be used. If not more chickens, gotta feed the addiction.
