I started with 6 hens(sex link) 7 years ago, now I'm at 250+, with more like 400 in the summer, egg layers, show birds, meat birds, plus quail, turkeys, ducks, geese and guinea hens
I am at 88 right now and have orders in for some Wheaten Marans from a breeder and I am putting an order in for 35 more laying hens from McMurray hatchery this week for a spring delivery. I can't keep up with egg orders...it seems there are a lot of people who want farm fresh eggs. I believe that I will be at close to 140 birds by this fall.
I have 85 with 50 in the bator and someone sending me 12 hatching eggs in a trade. So if I get 50% hatch rate I will be way over 100...chicken math=new coop...lol
We started with 24 now down to 13. We will be breeding and hatching out till we get 30 decent pullets to grow out with 4 roos to go with flock. I have a demand for eggs here and steady customers. Plus I will be working with SOP so any that do not make it must go.

These are iowa blues. If you are asking about the ones in Colored Egg Farmers sig line, these are the ones we have. Im from Iowa, and us on the Iowa thread got a batch of them from hatcheries to try and start a breeding project to improve them.
Anyone a little nuts and considering moving so they can have more chickens? I am already over the City ordinance by 9. And I want to hatch some too! I don't want to push my luck with the neighbors and the City, but I like em!
