True story about NC

We (DH & I) went to the race and its a long drive for us 12 - 16 hours depending on construction and traffic, pee breaks ..you get the picture...

Well this was the year the Michael Waltrip was because they called the race cause of the rain...it was a bad weekend to go camping.. We use a tent to go camping

So on the Monday morning we had packed up camp (we slept in the truck that night cause the tent was to wet to sleep in). We went to the local laundry mat and decided to go in out P.J.'s and wash a load of clothes so that when we are driving home at least we had clean clothes on and were somewhat comfortable. As our laundry was in the washer we used the laundry mat bathroom to clean ourselves up as best as we could we were covered in mud our feet and legs it was nasty. Well I guess the older women who was running the laundry mat noticed what we were doing and noticed that we were running back and forth to the truck which has Ontario plates on it, so she started asking questions like where we were from and how long the drive was just chit chat...

She picked up the phone and called her DH (I assume) and told him what was going on and that we were in an awful mess, She actually offered 2 strangers to go to her house where her DH was and we can clean up there have a hot shower and grab a "real meal" before we hit the road again.

We politely declined her offer because we were already dressed and about to get back on the road but I could not believe it...

I wrote down the name of the laundry mat as we were leaving, I sent her a card of thanks when we got home. We kept in touch a bit she sent a letter the following year askin if we were coming down again.

I think she passed a few years later because I sent a note telling her we were coming down and we were bring the children, but the letter was returned unopened
