How many quail can comfortably fit in an area meant for 2 chickens?

just curious how quail vs chicken space changes over. I also mean comfortably, not like cramming quail in. Thank you!

What kind of quail, and how many square feet? Quail need at least 1 square foot per bird. They are also ground birds, so multi-level areas are less likely to work for them.

One square foot per bird. Coturnix do well in things like rabbit hutches and off the ground single level cages. You can keep them on the ground too in an aviary type setting.

Commercial breeders will tell you 3 birds/square foot, but 1 square foot/bird will have happier birds. It's hard to give them too much space, though, so err on extra space if you want them to be happy.

One square ft per bird will make happy birds. More space is a good thing. Plus more space means less mess. Or maybe it’s the same amount of mess just spread out so it doesn’t look like as much lol.
