I know these are not the most ideal photos, but I am having a hard time figuring out who is a roo and who is just an advanced pullet? The chicks are 8 weeks in these photos. They are BO, BO/BLWyandotte, a few EE's, an Australorpe, and an IDK.

I do not know if this is a BLWyandotte Roo, but I have 2 of these and they both look like this. I am leaning to the roo side....

Not the best of most of the group, but I did not think I should post 18 photos!

If you need other pics, I'll go take some more.

Thanks!

That is an EE in the first pic, I should have specified.

So if the pic of the single black is the Aust., what is the other black one? I thought that one was the Aust.? It makes a very funny cheep noise, very different form the others.

I think you have an Australorp Pullet and an Australorp Roo. Could tell a little better if you could get all of the bird in the pick to be able to see tail feathers.

I have seen some Australorp hens have big combs/darker red and larger wattles. It could be that the one with larger comb/wattles is just maturing faster than the other.

See if you can picks of their tail feathers.

I just put my post up to see what all the BYC members thought about the sex of my Australorp flock. You can find it, and look at my photos. BYC members are saying all pullets on mine, except the ones I have Rooster marked on.

Might give you an idea of what the hens look like at the age of 14 weeks.

Ok, I will try for tail feather shots. I keep looking for the sickle feathers but since I have never been around baby chickens I have no idea what to look for.

The two white with black I am pretty darn sure are roos, I was just worried about having so many BO roos.... I guess I'll have to find a lot of homes since the lady who has them does not want to eat them.

Do the Aust. males and females make different kinds of noises? That one is just so weird.....

I'll try to post pics of the EE's I have too. The two greys are my EE's, along with a brown and a white (I think).

Sorry im not much help, but what did that blue EE look like when she was younger, and what hatchery did you get he/she from?!

Ok, more pics....

And Smokey

The EE's and the two unknowns I hatched out the first weekend of May along with the one Aust. I was supposed to have 4 EE's and 2 Aust., but when they were babies and mixed up with my other eggs I hatched I just did my best guessing on who was what. It did not help that I had 3 black chicks to choose from and only 3 chicks with cheek tufts!
