How many roosters

I think two roosters with three hens would be a bit much; one rooster can take care of more than three hens, but can the three hens stand two husbands . . . Yep, I'm thinking both of the roosters would consider all three ladies his.

Or, they'd kill each other trying to keep all the gals for themselves.
Yeah. Since I don't want to get 10 more hens(lol), I think as soon as the pullets mature, I think I'm going to try to integrate them into the adult flock and leave the 2 cockerels in their pen they are all in currently, making it a bachelor pad. The babies are currently 16 weeks(boys), and 12 &13 weeks (girls), and they're just having a blast in their outside pen. Boys are starting to play fight a tad bit more between themselves, but not being overly naughty towards the girls yet :)

It sounds like perhaps you have young children? Perhaps not...but cockerels tend to attack children first. So be very aware, a young child, younger than 5 can take the attack in the face or head.

They are in the darling stage, and they tend to make fools out of all of us, in that stage. If and when it gets ugly, it can get very ugly. Being raised together has almost no influence on adult (or teenage) behavior.

I would not recommend keeping them.

Sounds like another "chicken math" opportunity! 😆
(Ask me how I know 🤭 )

I can relate to your scenario. I get quite attached & with their endearing personalities, they quickly become members of the family, not just part of a flock...so...that being said, I built more coops with sections & added more hens. The bachelor pad coop works well, too. Now building another coop, for more hens, so the bachelors don't have to stay single bachelors. Am I nuts? 🤪
Nuts about chickens for sure 😆 🐔 ❤️

I've lucked out with very cool Roos...congenial with me, respectful & sweet with their hens, protective, proactive & vocal at the sight of hawks & foxes, etc. They are all very handsome as well...80% of the pics in my phone are the Roos.

Selling eggs at market & bags of composted, rich manure soil to the city slickers that garden does help justify. Yes, if you happen to love time with the flock, gardening & manure composting, it's actually functional & lucrative...gotta show a 'logical' reason to the non chicken loving folks.

Good luck with your decision. I don't regret keeping mine at all. ❤️ I'm doing what I love & they make me smile & laugh more than any people do.

Sounds like we are very similar. Chicken math is real. Part of me loves it, sometimes it stresses me out, lol. These roos are seriouly sweet so far. Their daddy is new to us -got him in August of last year and he has been good as gold the whole time. Not like he wants to be held, but he's so chill. I can only pray they are just like him!
I know, I have been feeling sorry about the fact that the boys may not have any hens:( because I'd have to get so many more. I don't want to get rid of them mainly because they're our first home hatched babies, also because we are very attached! I know they may go through a terrible "rooberty", but I plan on trying to work with them to keep their trust and take it day by day. Yes, I have tons of roo pictures as well! Lol
Thank you

One of the guys that I sold my Ducks to needed them delivered. When I got to his place he had a 10 X 10 six foot high dog kennel full of beautiful Roos. I could not believe how many were in it. There were branches for them to climb and roost on and they were all chilled. I was shocked so many could be kept together but they were and all seemed happy. Good luck with yours. I would at least give it a go and see how it works out. It's hard to let go of them when you love them so much.

Oh that's so cool. Yeah we have a 10 x 14 ft run for them. I guess I could fill the incubator up and make some more, fill that up lol. Just kidding, I am not going to do that! But yes, I am betting they will do fine with just eachother. We'll just find times to let them free range a little bit when the other flock is put up. Thank you! I really hope they stay sweet. Right now they come over to us before dusk, like, I need a goodnight hug! We hug them, then they go on into the coop. It's the cutest thing! 😍
