How Many Times a Week?

Not a whole lot, mainly pork and beef. You get tired of chicken after a while, especially if you raise the other meats yourself too. We sell a lot of retail cuts of pork so have a lot of sausages and brats on hand which make quick easy meals. The tenders on the chicken seem to sit the longest and we seem to eat a lot of them.

As far as whole chickens go, we mainly will eat the breast or cornish game hens. It comes down to what's easy in the summer.

i wish i liked eggs more

i'm kind of a sparing user. i don't like to use them up all at once. guess i could raise more, but i've already got a freezer full of beef and pork, that i am also using sparingly lol

i need to get over it

We now have 46 cut up cornish x's is the freezer. I only left a few birds whole. We eat 3-4 meals a week that involve chicken.

Big red we NEED more chicken in the freezer because we eat it 5 eves per week on average. I would love to have 150 of them to be able to have all to ourselves but I don't think we have enough land to be able to do that. I think we could raise two batches of 30 each and sadly we will have to buy the rest of our chicken from the store and we both know that won't be nearly as good!!

I do close to 800 - 400 between March-June, then another 400 from Aug-Oct. We sell around 650 of them and put the rest in the freezer. The third week of June we put 70 of them in the freezer, which nearly filled up a 15 cuft deep freeze. We figure 3-4 chickens per week. For Summer months we cut most of them up for grilling, and for the Winter months we leave more of them whole for roasting. My DW usually cooks 2 of them at a time. We eat of them for the first meal, then pull it all of the bone for other meals. I have also started making chicken sausage, which is a nice break. We have learned to become very creative in making different dishes. My wife also cans some of it, making for quick prep meals.

Looks like we eat more chicken than most other people. Doesn't bother me or the kids. They love chicken.

Have any of you ever tried chicken burgers? We got 30 CX chicks this week and I plan on grinding some of the meat for this purpose. There's a great little burger joint in Austin called P. Terrys that does chicken burgers that are AMAZING!!
