I believe what is said in chat is actually recorded somewhere (I'm assuming the BYC server) in chat room logs. The mods don't necessarily need to be in the room to see what happened; you just report that something naughty has occurred in the chat room at whatever time, and they can go back through the logs to see what was said and by whom.

Having any reasonable conversation is impossible when there are more
than 5 or 6 people in there. I've gone in there to visit with people
and end up getting stupid myself. The forum is a superior venue to

Even a chat style thread on the forum gives the poster a chance to
think about what they are writing and the readers a chance to read
something with actual thought.

If I'm going to chat I prefer AIM. You control who is in your room and
can have coherent conversations. If anyone ever wants to talk to me
in a chat setting PM me for my AIM user name.



The only things that should be reported are rules violations, not hurt
feelings, differences in opinions, or ridiculous sensitivities.

Deb, I've reported things, mostly my own posts that get out of hand,
but never a person, at least that I can remember.
